Gerard Pique is still one of the best defenders in the world and Samuel Umtiti has just committed his future to the club. However, they do not have an experienced backup defender who can push the two to play better.
Thomas Vermaelen is hardly fit while Yerry Mina is too young to challenge for a starting role. Kalidou Koulibaly can be the ideal signing for the Catalan side.
He has all that it takes to be at Barcelona and would jump on the opportunity. He was one of the main reasons why Napoli finished 2nd in Serie A last season and can be the one to help Barcelona go unbeaten next season.
With Koulibaly and Yerry Mina in the squad, Valverde can rotate more and that will help the players be fresh for every single game.
