As the title-holder's of the competition, Manchester City are definitely one of the firm favourites to win this competition. Pep Guardiola has long been renowned for his success in domestic competitions.
He has guided City to win two consecutive Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two English League Cup trophies in just three years. In his previous appointment at Bayern Munich, he led the Bundesliga club to two German Cup trophies.
The Cityzens have been drawn to face Port Vale who are competing in the fourth tier of English football. Fortunate to not be facing tougher opposition, it is almost guaranteed that Manchester City will progress to the next round and advance far in the competition.
With City drifting further and further away from the Premier League title race, Guardiola could channel his attention to cup competitions and the Champions League in a bid to win trophies.
