#1 Won the Puskas Award
The Puskas award was established in 2009, and this award is given to the player who is decided by a panel of voters to have scored the best goal in a calendar year.
Cristiano Ronaldo won the debut award for his forty-yard screamer against Porto, whilst playing for Manchester United in the Champions League. After Ronaldo's stunning overhead kick against Juventus, it was expected that he would win a second Puskas award.
However, he was beaten by Mo Salah in a highly controversial victory that shocked both players, pundits, fans, and probably even Salah and Ronaldo. It seems quite shocking to say the least that Lionel Messi hasn't won this award throughout his career, given how many beautiful goals he has scored.
Nevertheless, this is an award that has eluded the Argentinian veteran throughout his career, and will be interesting to see if this changes in the future.
