Reports from various sources suggest that Leo Messi will be sidelined nearly for 3 weeks, and this gives Dembele a chance to outperform his critics.
The Frenchman looked confident in few of his opening games this season, but later on, he showed signs of inconsistency and Valverde had no choice but to bench him.
However, he has a chance to win back the gaffer's confidence as he is apparently the one who will take on the right wing in the absence of their star playmaker Messi.
On the other hand, Malcom is yet to start a game for the Catalans. Messi out for three weeks means Malcom will at least win some substitute appearances, if not a starting XI call.
Though they both are nowhere near to Messi's level, more game time will only help them improve. Messi's game does not seem to be deteriorating, and thus, Valverde has no reasons to bench him and play these two whatsoever.
