#3 Lionel Messi - 36 trophies

Brazil v Argentina: Final - Copa America Brazil 2021
Brazil v Argentina: Final - Copa America Brazil 2021

Trophies and Lionel Messi go hand in hand. Ever since his debut in 2004, the Argentine has gone trophyless in only three years. He is more than a legend at Barcelona, but was forced to leave the club due to a financial turmoil before joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer.

Messi won 10 La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey, eight Spanish Super Cups, four UEFA Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups, and three FIFA Club World Cups at Barcelona. It goes without saying that without the Argentine forward's contribution, it would have been very difficult for Barcelona to win these trophies.

Messi had a frustrating spell at international level. The frustration reached its peak when Argentina lost in the 2014 World Cup final. Having failed to win the Copa America on three different occasions, Messi was finally able to get hands on it in 2021. This takes his total trophy tally to 36.

#2 Andres Iniesta - 37 trophies

Barcelona v Real Sociedad - La Liga
Barcelona v Real Sociedad - La Liga

The word legend does not justify the greatness of Andres Iniesta. The Spanish midfielder was such a delight to watch during his time at Barcelona. Coming through La Masia, Iniesta possessed immense flair, agility, and a brilliant knack for creating goals at will.

He spent 15 seasons at Barcelona, making more than 600 appearances for the Spanish giants. In the process, he won nine La Liga titles, seven Spanish Super Cups, four UEFA Champions League titles, six Spanish Cups and three FIFA Club World Cups. He joined Vissel Kobe in 2018 and won the Emperor's Cup and Japanese Super Cup as well.

With the Spanish national team, Iniesta has been equally effective. No one will forget the winning goal in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final. Along with that, he has won the UEFA European Championship with Spain in 2008 and 2012.

#1 Dani Alves - 43 trophies

Brazil v Peru: Final - Copa America Brazil 2019
Brazil v Peru: Final - Copa America Brazil 2019

Dani Alves is arguably the most decorated player in the history of football. Starting his career in Brazil with Bahia, Alves won the Copa do Nordeste in 2002. He then moved to Sevilla in La Liga in the summer of 2002.

With the Spanish club, Alves won the Copa del Rey, Supercopa, the UEFA Cup twice and the UEFA Super Cup. His impressive performances earned him a move to Barcelona in 2008 with whom he stayed until 2016. During that period, he won six La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey, four Supercopa titles, three UEFA Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups and three FIFA Club World Cups.

His aggressive and attacking play as a right-back helped Barcelona immensely and they did miss him dearly when he joined Juventus in 2016. With the Italian club, Alves won the Serie A and Coppa Italia. After a season with the Old Lady, the Brazilian joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

At the French club, Alves won Ligue 1 twice, the Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee des Champions twice. He wanted to return to Brazil to play club football and therefore joined Sao Paulo in 2019. With them, he won the Campeonato Paulista in 2021. At national level, the former Juventus full-back has won the Copa America twice, the FIFA Confederations Cup twice and recently won the gold medal Summer Olympics.

The Brazilian defender has parted ways with Sao Paulo and is now a free agent. He was recently found stating that if Barcelona need his services, he'll be happily wishing to join them. Since he has yet to announce his retirement, Alves is still technically an active player and comfortably makes it to the top of our list.
