Tottenham Hotspur have also been active in the transfer market, bringing in a couple of new signings to the Premier League. Argentina centre-back Cristian Romero is the latest to join the north London side on loan from Atalanta, with an option to buy him next summer for £42.5 million.

Romero played a key role in helping Atalanta qualify for the Champions League. The centre-back made 42 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals and providing five assists. His impressive performances saw him win Serie A's 'Defender of the Season' award.

He was also a key part of the Argentina squad that won the Copa America 2021. La Albiceleste managed to keep a clean sheet in each of the three games Romero played.

With the departure of Toby Alderweireld, Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping Romero can fill the void in the Premier League next season.

#2 Raphael Varane

Premier League giants Manchester United were in the market for a couple of new signings to fill certain positions and one of them was a reliable centre-back. With a host of defenders linked with the club, it was Raphael Varane who the club managed to sign from Real Madrid this summer.

The 28-year-old four-time Champions League, three-time La Liga and World Cup-winning central defender arrived at Old Trafford for just £41 million. This definitely makes the defender one of the potential bargains of the summer.

Varane made 360 appearances for Real Madrid since joining them in 2011. He also chipped in with 17 goals for the club during this time while winning numerous major honors.

At United, Varane will be the ideal partner for captain Harry Maguire at the heart of the defense and the two could forge a formidable centre-back pairing in the Premier League for years to come.

Manchester United have finally managed to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £72.9 million this time around after coming very close to signing him last summer.

The Premier League side have been long-term admirers of the England international and were desperate to bolster their right wing with his signature.

Sancho managed to score 50 goals and provide 64 assists for Borussia Dortmund in 137 appearances across all competitions. His performances helped the club to consistently finish in the top four and he also managed to win the German Cup with the team last year.

Known for his pace and trickery, Sancho is expected to help United take another step towards the top of English football this season. If he does enjoy a sparkling debut season in the Premier League, Manchester United could be serious contenders for the title.
