5 key stats from Real Madrid's 3-0 win over Juventus

CR7 once again delivered on a European night

Real Madrid beat Juventus 3-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final at the Allianz Stadium.

It took only three minutes for Madrid to break the deadlock and once again it was Cristiano Ronaldo, slotting it home following a pass from Isco on the left to give Madrid a 1-0 lead at halftime.

It was a close game with both teams looking good getting forward but the away side proved to have the edge.

This was justified when Ronaldo once again got on the scoresheet, scoring a stunning overhead kick to make it 2-0 in the 64th minute.

Two minutes later, things got worse for Juventus when Paulo Dybala received his marching orders for a late and ill-timed high boot challenge on Dani Carvajal.

The Portuguese superstar was in action once again, this time playing the pass to Marcelo, with the Brazilian scoring on an open goal following a lucky deflection of Gianluigi Buffon to give the Los Blancos a 3-0 win over the Italian Champions.

Here are the five key stats from the game:

#5 Ronaldo and Zidane achieve historic wins

Buffon congratulates Ronaldo on his achievements

It was a night where Cristiano Ronaldo broke multiple records and landmarks. Other than his personal goalscoring feat, Ronaldo tied Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas for the highest number of wins in the Champions League, with 95.

The 95 victories have come over his stints with both Madrid and former club Manchester United.

During this time, he has won an incredible four European trophies, three of them with the Los Blancos in the last four years and one with United in the year 2008.

Meanwhile, Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane achieved his 100th win in charge of the club. The Frenchman has hit this landmark in only 137 games with a win ratio of nearly 73% across all competitions.

It has taken him only two years since the time he was appointed during which he has delivered back to back Champions League titles, a La Liga Santander title as well as two UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup trophies.

Zidane looks to do a three-peat since his job is on the line and winning Europe's biggest prize will help him in avoiding the sack.

#4 Juventus unbeaten run ends

Juventus v Real Madrid - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final Leg One
It was a tough night for the Juve players

Prior to the first leg against Real Madrid, Juventus hadn't lost at home in Europe since April 2013.

However, a dismal 3-0 loss brought an end to that streak with the Old Lady facing a stern challenge of turning around a three-goal deficit in the second leg at the Santiago Bernebau.

Similarly, this was Juve's second biggest margin of defeat in a European competition, with the previous ones being both by a margin of 4-1, firstly to Bayern Munich in the group stages of the 2009-10 Champions League and the second to Fulham in the Round-of-16 second leg in the 2009-10 UEFA Cup season.

It was for the second time that the Italian giants had conceded three goals at home in the knockout stages, last time being in a 3-2 loss against Manchester United in the semi-finals of this competition in 1999.

This scoreline also matches the Italian Champions for their second heaviest loss this season in the Champions League, with the previous one being to Barcelona away to the Camp Nou in the group stages.

#3 Isco has a perfect game

Isco was excellent with his vision and passing

Isco was given the nod to start ahead of Gareth Bale and he fulfilled his role as per the needs of the manager.

He provided the assist for the opening goal and finished the game with completing 54 passes, with an accuracy of 100%.

The Spaniard had a total of 68 touches, putting in one key pass, two long balls and two crosses respectively, starting in the role of a left winger.

Despite the criticism he receives, Isco puts in a good shift when demanded and seems to always turn up in Europe's elite competition just like his teammates.

He was an influential and integral part of Real Madrid's Champions League triumph last season and looks to be a prominent fixture in Zidane's teamsheet as Real have already set their sights on reaching the final once again and clinch the trophy for a third consecutive time.

#2 Juventus get outdone by Ronaldo

Ronaldo scored a spectacular overhead kick to double the lead

The first leg proved that Cristiano Ronaldo loves playing against Juventus. He has scored nine goals in his six appearances against the Old Lady in Europe, and two of those matches have seen reach double figures, with all of his goals coming against Gianluigi Buffon.

On the other hand, Ronaldo scored goal number 21 and 22, the highest tally than any single player has accumulated only in the last eight stages of Europe's elite competition.

The Madrid forward has achieved this feat only in 19 quarterfinal appearances, leaving him 12 clear of Lionel Messi and Raul.

The 22 goals also mean that the reigning 2017 Ballon d'Or winner has single-handedly scored more number of goals than the entire Juventus team's 21 goals in the quarterfinals in the history of the UCL.

#1 Ronaldo hits a new landmark

Breaking and Setting records is a hobby for Cristiano

Ronaldo's opening goal of the game meant that this was for the 10th straight game that he scored in the Champions League.

The streak dates back to the last season's UCL final, in Cardiff, against Juventus where he scored a brace to help his team lift the trophy in back to back years.

He added another one in the second half, following a superb overhead kick to make it 2-0 for Real Madrid.

During this span of 10 games, the Portuguese Phenom has accumulated 16 goals and has hit double figures on six separate occasions.

Similarly, Ronaldo also broke the previously held record of Ruud Van Nistelrooy in Europe. The Dutchman had held the record of scoring in nine successive games in the 2002-03 season when he was flourishing in the colours of Manchester United.

On the other hand, he also achieved another personal yet less significant record of scoring his fastest goal in Europe, when he broke the deadlock after just 166 seconds.
