The La Liga and Premier League are often cited as the best two leagues in the world by European football lovers. In terms of viewership, the two leagues are the most watched football leagues on the planet. Despite their similarity in popularity, the two leagues differ so much in terms of playing style.

The Premier League is best known for its ferocious pace, physicality and competitive nature. On the other hand, the La Liga is known for its focus on possession, technical superiority and dominance by two teams.

It’s often said that players choose between the two wrongly, the bright lights of either league shouldn’t be the main attraction, it should be what you’re best suited to. Take, for example, Roberto Soldado. In Spain, he was one of the most clinical strikers, in England he struggled to shoot on target. Moral of the story is, some La Liga players are better suited to the Premier League than others.

Here are 5 La Liga players who would dominate the Premier League.

#5 Dani Ceballos

The Spanish youngster has had his reputation taken to new heights since joining Real Madrid. Many a La Liga expert knew of him before, but his transfer to the Bernabéu has put him on the global map.

At the age of 20, the youngster was the centre of Real Betis as the team was built around him. The Spaniard excels at passing, as he always seeks to initiate counter attacks within a matter of seconds. He’s always looking for the optimum through ball.

His technical attributes may be exceptional but it’s also his personality traits that make him even the more suited to the Premier League. The 21-year old has been described as a natural born leader, often taking the game to his opponents regardless of their quality.

#4 Victor Camarasa

It’s no coincidence that Camarasa has been heavily linked to the Premier League recently. These links make sense when you look at the type of player the Spaniard is. He’s a perfect balance between technical superiority and physical dominance.

He has the ability to play a variety of roles, due to his mentality to both shield the defence and contribute in the attacking phases.

His attributes are probably best suited to the box-to-box role as he loves to burst through the middle third with the ball. Victor Camarasa has a release clause of £10m, a steal in today’s market.

#3 Saúl Ñíguez

Saul has played 127 games in his professional career

If you’ve watched Spanish football in the past few years, you would have noticed the subtle but high-quality performances of Saúl Ñíguez. From an early age, Saúl has been the cornerstone of Atletico Madrid’s midfield pivot.

His performances are all the more impressive when you look at how versatile he is. Saúl can play in any one of the midfield roles, as he has the intelligence to match his exceptional technical and physical attributes.

Saúl may not be the quickest or strongest, but his ability to raise his game against the bigger sides at such a young age has garnered him many plaudits. He doesn’t get fazed by the bright lights, instead, he maintains a high level of creativity against all opposition. Such is the quality of Saul, he could start for any team in the PL, however, his traits would best be appreciated at maybe Arsenal or Manchester City.

#2 Antoine Griezmann

Griezmann has scored 83 goals for Atletico Madrid

The Atletico striker is just one of France’s golden generation of forwards. Some would even say he’s the most fine-tuned and polished out of the bunch. The 26-year old excels on the wing, behind the striker and as the main man; such versatility is perfect for the Premier League. No wonder Manchester United have often been linked with the Frenchman.

As a striker in the Premier League, Griezmann would constantly run into the wide channels allowing him to stretch opposing defences. His constant movement would prove effective in possession against low-blocks and on the counter against teams who play a high line. On top of that, the Atletico striker is deceptively strong for his size, meaning he’d adjust easily to the physicality of the league.

#1 Isco

Real Madrid CF v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League
Isco

Many say that the Premier League is the most physically demanding league in the world. Often, technically-gifted players are perceived to be a luxury asset in the English top-flight, they’re a rare commodity that aren’t valued like tough tacklers such as N’Golo Kante and Fernandinho.

That’s why the magic of Mesut Özil will never fully be appreciated until he goes. However, technically-gifted players like David Silva have proved that those breed of players can not only perform in the Premier League, they can dominate it.

Isco possesses all the traits of David Silva, plus more. He has vision, close control and the elusiveness to evade tough tackles.

Isco would thrive in teams like Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, teams who play fluid football in the final third. The Spaniard’s wizardry manipulation of the ball would destabilise low-blocks in the Premier League and easily make him the most creative player in the league.
