5 most humiliating defeats in Jose Mourinho's career

The current Red Devils boss has had a few blemishes in his illustrious career

Jose has had his fair share of low points

Jose Mourinho has won a lot in his career. The Portuguese has made a name for himself by winning silverware with some of the best teams in the world. His resume includes the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter Milan and now Manchester United.

But Jose has also had his fair share of losses some of them by margins he wouldn’t dream of. Everyone is susceptible to a drubbing and Mourinho's teams despite losing, have more often that not bounced back.

Some humiliations have taken longer than others to recover from but there have been moments which have been talked about at length because of the amount of media attention he garners.

So here are the 5 worst defeats Jose Mourinho has endured in his managerial career so far.

5) Chelsea 0-3 Middlesbrough

Chelsea under Jose Mourinho were normally defensively solid, compact and didn’t lose much during the time when they won two back to back league titles, and when they did lose it wasn’t by a very high margin but there are exceptions to every rule.

Chelsea were cruising to the league title in February, when struggling Boro came along to Stamford Bridge. They had just lost 4-0 the previous weekend to Aston Villa so nothing but a Chelsea win was expected.

But the match took a twist when Rochemback gave Boro the lead in the second minute of the game.It continued to go from bad to worse for Chelsea at the Bridge as Boro increased their tally to 2-0 through Stewart Downing.

The Blues’ defense were all over the place and were outplayed by a Boro side who had initially come there to only earn a point. Chelsea’s miserable day was complete when Yakubu finally got a very well deserved goal to make it 3-0

This was only Jose’s third loss ever in his 20-month reign at Chelsea with their previous two losses coming against Manchester United and Manchester City and remains his heaviest defeat at the Bridge.

This is what he told BBC after the game: “We lost to Manchester City and didn't deserve it, we lost at Manchester United and didn't deserve it. We lost today 3-0 - and we deserved it.”
