Serial Italian winners Juventus would be making their 11th Round of 16 Champions League appearance in 2019-20. Only 3 clubs, the trio above Juventus in this list, have more Round of 16 Champions League wins than Juventus' tally of 8.

Along with Barcelona, the Bianconeri have the fewest Round of 16 defeats (2) amongst clubs that have made at least 10 appearances in this stage of the competition. Juventus' only defeats in the Champions League Round of 16 have come against Chelsea in 2008-09 and Bayern Munich in 2015-16.

In their 6th consecutive appearance in this stage of the competition, the Bianconeri would meet Olympique Lyonnais - against whom the reigning Italian champions drew 1-1 at home and lost 0-1 away in the group-stage of the 2016-17 edition of the competition.

Juventus were indebted to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick for turning around a 0-2 first-leg deficit en route to a 3-2 aggregate win over Atletico Madrid in last season's Round of 16.

Record 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid are the only club to qualify for every Round of 16 of the competition since the knockout round's inception in 2003-04.

However, the Merengues have a less than stellar record in this round of the competition. A 3-2 aggregate defeat to Ajax in last season's Round of 16 was Madrid's 7th at this stage of the Champions League. Only Arsenal (9) have had more Round of 16 reverses than the Spanish capital club.

The only club in the Champions League era to successfully defend their title (2016-17) take on reigning English champions Manchester City in the 2019-20 Round of 16. In the pair's only previous clash during the knockout stage of the competition, Madrid eliminated City 1-0 on aggregate in the 2015-16 semifinals.
