Aaron Mooy celebrates after scoring against Manchester United

The Australian international was at Huddersfield on loan from Manchester City in the 2016/17 season and played an instrumental role in the team’s surprise promotion to the Premier League.

The Terriers moved to sign Mooy permanently before the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season for a reported £8 million fee, with City having a buyback option for him in the future.

Mooy has continued to be a key player for David Wagner’s side in the Premier League, which has impressed everyone despite starting the season with low expectations (given their limited resources). He was involved in two of the three goals in the 3-0 win at Crystal Palace in the team’s first game of the season and followed it up with the match winner and the only goal in the win over Newcastle.

The highlight of Mooy’s and Huddersfield’s season so far has been the 2-1 win over Manchester United (which has been the only defeat in the league till now for Jose Mourinho’s team), in which Mooy scored the opening goal.

Mooy was also in the news recently when the Huddersfield club director made public a handwritten letter and a gift of £5 from a 9-year-old fan for Mooy after the win over Manchester United, which was followed by the player meeting the young fan.
