#2 Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)

Mesut Ozil is a 30-year-old attacking midfielder who plays for Arsenal in the Premier League. He has also featured for Germany's national team, having made 92 appearances since his debut in 2009.
Ozil switched between multiple youth academies when he first began his career, having spells with Westfalia Gelsenkirchen Jugend, DJK Teutonia Schalke Jugend, Falke Gelsenkirchen Jugend and Rot-Weiss Essen Youth, before he finally settled with Schalke 04 U19s in 2006.
The following summer he was promoted to the first team, where he stayed until Werder Bremen signed him for £4.5m in January 2008. Ozil was only just beginning to show the world what he was capable of at this time, and it wasn't long at all before Real Madrid, no less, paid £16m for his services in 2010.
Ozil would eventually join Arsenal in September 2013 for a fee of around £42m. Initially, he thrived at the Emirates, but soon began to embark on a gradual decline that has persisted to this day. So far this season, Ozil has only played 11 times, scoring three and assisting one goal.
Whilst Unai Emery acknowledges the ability Ozil possesses, he, like many of the fans, has come to realise that the German is inconsistent and unreliable when they face bigger teams. It's all very well taking apart relegation-fodder teams, but when Ozil goes missing in the big games, many have to question what real use he has to the team in general. He's on staggering wages-per-week, too, which doesn't help his cause.
Rumour probability: 7/10
Ozil's spell with the Gunners might be coming to an end, however, as the Daily Express reported that his proposed move to Manchester United may be scuppered by rivals Paris Saint-Germain, according to the bookmakers.
Transfermarkt value the 30-year-old at just £31.5m, which seems fairly low for a player of his capabilities, but his inconsistent form is what lets him down. But this means that PSG won't have to break a sweat if they want to buy him at that value, making a deal all the more likely.
