5 players who could leave Barcelona in summer 2018

Barcelona v Leganes - La Liga
Barcelona is set to be crowned La Liga Champions again

Following Barcelona's most recent win against Leganes, the team is going to be crowned Champions of La Liga soon. With the season coming to an end soon, head coach Ernesto Valverde is likely to sanction the sale of some of his players in order to make room for incoming ones.

Barcelona has a few top targets for the summer such as Antoine Griezmann and Hector Bellerin. On the other hand, some players from the Barcelona squad have not been able to live up to their expectations, for instance, Andre Gomes and Arda Turan.

Before the team can spend heavily in the summer, there are some players who are expected to leave Camp Nou. Once the price is right, they may possibly be packing their bags this summer.

5) Andre Gomes

The central-midfielder made a move from Valencia to Camp Nou in 2016 but he has reportedly told the La Liga club that he desires a move away in the summer. Gomes has failed to impress during his time with Barcelona amidst interest from Manchester United and Juventus.

Over the two years with Barcelona, Gomes has played in multiple positions across the midfield and on one occasion, he even played as a right-back for his team.

His most accustomed position playing as a box-to-box midfielder, where he can transition from defence to attack easily. However, his ball recoveries, creativity and shots have been far from impressive for the Barcelona fans.

Barcelona may be tempted to sell Gomes, who has not performed well, in order to get other players this summer.

4) Aleix Vidal

Vidal has played just 14 La Liga matches this season and for a couple of matches, he was dropped from the squad. The wing-back is highly expected to be leaving Barcelona in the summer.

Playing predominantly as a right-back, Vidal is known for his fast-paced runs, allowing him to get back to his position quickly and advance forward with great pace. His pace was on show for all to see when he slammed an impressive goal in December 2017 in the El Clasico to ensure a 3-0 Barcelona victory.

Ernesto Valverde is expected to agree to the sale of Vidal this summer after no noteworthy improvement in his performances.

3) Arda Turan

Turan scored on his debut for İstanbul Başakşehir

After playing no part in any of the games for Barcelona in the first half of this season, Turan was loaned out to İstanbul Başakşehir. Having joined Barca in 2015, Turan made only 36 appearances for the club and scored 5 goals.

The 31-year-old is highly expected to be permanently leaving the club this summer as Barcelona are looking to get another striker to boost their attacking threat. Over the years, Turan has been linked to moves to Premier League clubs. However, given this age, he is unlikely to be joining a Premier League side.

Arda came into the side for a whopping transfer fee but stayed out of action for a long time with the transfer ban having been imposed on the Catalan club before he could play. However, the Turkey international has failed to press claims.

2) Samuel Umtiti

The French defender is wanted by Manchester United to boost the club's defence. According to reports in Spain, Barcelona is set to decide Umtiti's future within the month.

With a release clause of 53 million euros, the Red Devils will be able to meet the amount easily as Jose Mourinho is expected to spend heavily in the summer. Umtiti has become an integral player in Barcelona's backline but the Premier League side is desperate to sign the defender as soon as possible.

Considering his young age, getting Umtiti will be a good investment. He could be tempted to play in the Premier League alongside Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.

1) Rafinha

Inter Milan are keen to sign Rafinha on a permanent deal. Since his transfer, Rafinha has made nine appearances for the club and Inter Milan has an option to buy him at 35 million euros.

Playing as a midfielder, the Spanish League team does not lack players in his position. In January, Arsenal was rumoured to be keen on getting the midfielder. The Brazilian enjoys dribbling and trying to shoot from distance, but his ability to hold the ball has been comparatively weaker as compared to his team-mates in Barcelona.

Rafinha is able to play in almost every position in the midfield, making him a player with suitors.
