5 players who could leave Chelsea this summer

Southampton v Chelsea - Premier League
It is unknown whether Conte will remain Chelsea's manager next season

The former Italy coach, Antonio Conte, has been unable to defend his Premier League title. This was after Manchester City clinched the trophy after their victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

This season, some of the players have struggled to find their form. They have been unable to perform on a consistent basis and the club eventually dropped points while playing against weaker teams such as Bournemouth and Watford.

Despite the team's inferior performances, a few players remain the top targets of other clubs from other leagues. The possibility of having no Champions League action next season will definitely be a consideration on the minds of the players who want to play at the highest level of European football.

As such, the Blues could find it difficult to retain some of their talented players in this upcoming transfer window.

#5 Thibaut Courtois

Chelsea v West Ham United - Premier League
Courtois has many suitors from top European leagues

Chelsea's first choice goalkeeper may not be a Chelsea man next season. The Belgian has long attracted interest from Real Madrid who are eyeing a replacement for Keylor Navas. The 25-year-old is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world and he has just almost a year left on his contract with Chelsea.

Recent reports are also saying that Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to sign the goalkeeper. Courtois may be interested to join the new crowned Ligue 1 champions of the season, in order to win more titles and be involved in Champions League.

Chelsea are almost certain to miss out on Champions League next season as the team is now in 5th place, eight points behind Tottenham Hotspur who are in the 4th place.

#4 Eden Hazard

Chelsea v West Ham United - Premier League
Hazard's form has dipped this season

Eden Hazard was not named in this year's PFA Team of the Year. As compared to the previous season when Chelsea clinched the title under Antonio Conte's first season, Hazard has not been that influential this time around.

The Belgian has a surprising low tackle success of 33% this season in Premier League as compared to 67% in the 2016/17 Premier League season. He is yet to score 20 goals in a season for Chelsea. Although this statistic is not impressive for a player of his caliber, Hazard has suitors from La Liga.

The midfielder has been linked to a move to Real Madrid where Zinedine Zidane is said to be an admirer of Hazard. Reports in Spain claimed that Spain is the most likely destination for the Belgian who has spent six seasons with Chelsea with Real Madrid making him the club's top summer transfer target.

#3 Alvaro Morata

Chelsea v West Ham United - Premier League
Morata has been unable to score on a regular basis

The Spaniard has scored 11 goals in 27 appearances for Chelsea thus far. Last season, he netted 15 times in 26 games for Spanish Giants, Real Madrid. This season surely has not been smooth sailing for him and there are talks about him moving back to Italy.

Juventus have plans to strengthen their attack ahead of next season and identified their former player, Morata, as an ideal target. One issue that the Italian team faces is that the 25-year-old striker will not come cheap.

With the player not adapting well in Chelsea, he could be seeking a move to a more familiar place in the near future.

#2 Michy Batshuayi

Chelsea v Newcastle United - The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round
Batshuayi has not been able to live up to his fullest potential in Chelsea

Batshuayi left for Dortmund in January as his parent club welcomed Olivier Giroud from Arsenal. After his loan move to Dortmund, Batshuayi sparkled and shined when given the opportunity to play.

His spell in Chelsea has been pretty miserable as he has played 62 times and scored seven goals since 2016. While playing for Dortmund, the striker has reached 7 goals in just 10 matches. The Belgian is absolutely adored by the German fans until his recent injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

After his amazing and rewarding performances for the Bundesliga team, Batshuayi must have been tempted to stay on. Although the Blues are reluctant to let their player leave on a permanent deal, the English club has reportedly demanded over 50 million pounds.

Dortmund's chief Hans-Joachim Watzke announced the club's desire to sign the forward in summer while speaking to the press in February. The ultimate decision will now lie in the hands of the Chelsea board, but most probably, the Belgian would be packing his bags permanently.

#1 Willian

Chelsea v West Ham United - Premier League
Willian has excelled for Chelsea this season

There are early speculations that Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Willian from Chelsea. The Brazilian has shined for Chelsea and a regular player under Conte this season. Chelsea is undergoing a pretty tumultuous time amidst the uncertainty of Conte's future in the club. The Blues have failed to defend their Premier League title and risk missing out on Champions League next season.

Manchester United are set to be guaranteed Champions League action next season as the club now has 71 points, 11 above Chelsea, with just a few matches left. Mourinho was once Willian's manager when the duo was in Shakhtar Donetsk.

It will be difficult for the Red Devils to sign Willian for Chelsea, but there is no harm giving it a try. The 29-year-old has been identified as a successor to Juan Mata even though Manchester United has triggered a one-year contract extension for the Spaniard.
