There are few records players dream of holding and there are few that become nightmares for them. Own goals belong to the latter as it is kind of a dent to a player’s stature but football is a game designed like that.

Own goals often prove to be pretty costly for a player’s team and thus their presence in one’s resume does a lot of damage. Of all the players belonging to this infamous list, one man tops it- Richard Dunne.

The Irishman holds the record for most own goals scored in the EPL as the powerful centre-back scored in the wrong side of the pitch 10 times.

Dunne spent his whole career playing in the Premier League, donning some of the top shirts the league has to offer. Dunne represented Merseyside club Everton for 4 years before moving to Manchester City. After a spell of 9 years with the citizens, the strong lad from Ireland moved to Aston Villa before ending his career at Queens Park Rangers.

Dunne was a decent defender but his record of own goals puts him on top of an unwanted list.
