Consistently winning games at home will put you in the title race but it is winning away from home that truly separates champions from the rest of the pack. Results away from home in the Premier League are no longer foregone conclusions and teams are required to work their butts off to return with all three points.
Jose Mourinho's 2004/05 Chelsea side currently have that record with 15 away wins. Five of those wins were narrow 1-0 wins and they only lost once in away games.
Pep Guardiola's side are on 14 away wins at the moment. They have thrashed a few teams away from home while narrow results are generally an aberration rather than the norm.
But City must win both away games to break the record. They might beat West Ham away but will Guardiola play a full strength squad in the final game of the season against Southampton, who might be relegated by then?
