Liverpool FC’s draw at Anfield against bottom club Blackburn Rovers condemned the Merseyside to yet another home draw, but here are a couple of reasons why Liverpool FC should remain upbeat despite dropping points.
5. Jose Enrique’s confidence is growingOne of the key reasons why we signed the Spaniard from Newcastle United is his dribbling ability, along with his good crossing. Enrique showed just that against the bottom side, as he sped past opponents in a relatively relaxed fashion, sprinting past before delivering the crosses into the box. He’s also more keen on taking shots, but he should remain slightly more calm ahead of his shots, given that he lashed a couple when he had better options ahead of him.
His defensive duties have not gone away either, with his positioning, along with his tackling really good at the back, and he wasn’t troubled much throughout the game yesterday.
4. We’re faring better than last year
Sometimes, success takes time, and we’re a work in progress. Last year, some feared that we were battling relegation at one point towards the ending of Roy Hodgson’s reign at Anfield. Ironically, it was a defeat against Blackburn that sealed the now West Bromwich manager’s fate, after his Liverpool side fell to a 3-1 defeat to the Ewood Park outfit.
Moreover, the side is simply more positive on the ball, unlike during Roy’s spell, which saw negative tactics being played. Kenny Dalglish has implemented a “pass and move” style to Liverpool FC’s play, resulting in better play from the Reds.
3. It’s January!
With new owners and a positive outlook, it seems very likely that quality signings will be made in the January transfer window. Amongst names mentioned are David Villa (not possible now given his injury), Roberto Soldado, Eden Hazard and Gaston Ramirez. It promises a lot for the Reds. Moreover, the stars don’t seem to want to leave at this time of year, unlike last year where Fernando Torres’ departure caused much havoc in the Liverpool FC boardroom.
But you have to remember, it only takes one signing to lift the whole team sometimes. Remember Suarez?
2. Steven Gerrard is finally returning (hopefully for good this time)
Our captain is back. What else can I say? Steven Gerrard’s a talismanic midfielder who makes things happen for the Reds. His passing, along with his marauding runs through the center WILL make things happen for the Reds. Even in his small role in yesterday’s draw against Rovers, he seemed sharp with his passing and comfortable both on and off the ball.
Liverpool really missed having him in the team and it’s great to have him back, this time hopefully for good.
1. We’re Liverpool FC
We are Liverpool FC. We are the 12th man for Liverpool FC. We need to stand behind the team and buoy them on to victory. Yesterday’s match against Blackburn saw the opposite, where fans were frustrated and irritated by Liverpool not scoring early. Be patient and continue cheering Liverpool FC on. The goals will rush in.
