Ballon d'Or might be an individual accolade, but no footballer can win it alone. His fellow players should work hard like him, they should keep their confidence level high like him and they should have the mentality to win everything just like him. That is what PSG lacks as a team, the mentality of the winner.

Apart from a set of outstanding players like Mbappe, Cavani, and Verrati, to name a few, PSG proved time and again that they are not Champions League materials.

In the defense, Thiago Silva and Dani Alves are past their prime, and the rest lack the experience to perform at higher levels of the game. Youngsters like Kimpembe and Marquinhos are finding it difficult to keep their nerves against strong oppositions as they face only a few such teams in Ligue 1.

Also, PSG is still short of a quality holding midfielder and it proved costly in their recent defeat to Real in UCL.

They tend to struggle, make unforced errors, and fade out completely in high stake games just like they did at Bernabeu. There is a limit to what even a player like Neymar can do alone in those kinds of situations.

It doesn't matter how well he plays, it is the achievements of his team based on which he will always be measured.

Analysing the previous Ballon d'Or winners, it is safe to say that the player who won most prestigious team accolade has always been given an edge over others. In such circumstances, it will be difficult or almost impossible for Neymar to win the Ballon d'Or unless a huge revamp takes place in PSG.

Unlike PSG, Real Madrid is a team acquainted with the ins and outs of winning the Champions League. Los Blancos have won the UCL in the last two terms and are the favorites to win it this time too. Siding with the Spanish side will surely turn out to be a perk in his quest for Ballon d'Or.
