Vincent Kompany ably lead Manchester City to Premier League glory

City as a team has much more experienced players than Liverpool and the difference in leadership between teams was very evident in the title race. The contrast between a tough tackling, dominating Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany and the limited abilities of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson came to the fore in the business end of the season.

While Kompany was able to lead from the front, for example his majestic long range winner against Leicester in the penultimate game of the league, Henderson could not muster many inspiring captain's performances in the long campaign. Henderson also found himself on the bench for large portions of the league, starting just 21 out of Liverpool's 38 games in hand.

City's leadership again is not confined to Kompany. Aguero leads from the front, providing City key goals when they look creatively starved. Fernandinho provided steel and determination in midfield, necessary to close out crunch games. A more able captain who could have rallied his troops would have probably prevented Liverpool from being held to 7 draws, as compared to Manchester City's 2. Ultimately, that proved to be the difference between the two sides.
