If records determine a player's greatness, then Cristiano Ronaldo is certainly one of the greatest. They are his biggest raison d'etre.

Throughout his illustrious career, the Portuguese ace has set innumerable records and reached many milestones for club and country, and continues to do so at a phenomenal rate even at the age of 35.

Now in his 18th year as a professional footballer, Ronaldo is showing no signs of slowing down and here are some of the records that he could script with Juventus in the 2020-21 season.

5 records Cristiano Ronaldo can script in the 2020-21 season:

#5 Third player to hit 750+ career goals

Cristiano Ronaldo needs just nine more goals to surpass 750 goals for club and country.

Among many things, Cristiano Ronaldo is an unrelenting goal-machine as well. And his numbers certainly underline it - he's netted 742 of them in his career for club and country so far, making him the third most prolific footballer in history.

He trails only Joseph Bican (805) and Pele (757) for most official goals but can surpass the Brazilian great soon, considering he's just 15 behind him. In the process, the Juventus star will also become just the third player to cross the 750 mark. Another ridiculous milestone.

#4 100 goals for Juventus

Having already brought up his century for Portugal, Ronaldo will now be aiming to hit triple digits with his club too, needing just 32 more goals to reach the landmark tally.

He struck 28 times in his debut season and followed it up with a stunning 37 goals last season, the most by a Juventus player in 60 years. And now in the new campaign, he's off the mark already with three more.

Only 13 players in the club's history have scored 100+ goals, so that'd be another unique milestone for Cristiano Ronaldo, but to pull it off in just three seasons? That'd be extraordinary!

#3 First player with 100 goals in three leagues

In addition to the previous record, Ronaldo could also become the first ever player to score 100 goals for clubs in three of Europe's top five leagues.

There are a few players who've managed over a century of goals with clubs in two different leagues - Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gonzalo Higuain, and Edinson Cavani - but none has done it in three.

Ronaldo has maintained a prolific goal-scoring record since leaving Sporting CP, netting 108 times for Manchester United, 450 for Real Madrid, and now, 68 for Juventus. So it's only a matter before he hits triple digits in Italy as well.

#2 Golden Boot in three of Europe's top five leagues

Ronaldo's scoring record with Juventus might be stellar, but the Golden Boot has, unfortunately, eluded him so far. He came fourth in the 2018/19 season and was eclipsed by Ciro Immobile last time in the race for the Capocannoniere.

The Portuguese ace will definitely have his eyes on the prize once again, and if he's third time lucky, then he'd be the first ever player to finish as top-scorer in three of Europe's top five leagues.

As you may know, Ronaldo has won the Golden Boot in the Premier League once (2008/09) with Manchester United, before picking up three more at Real Madrid (2010/11, 2013/14, 2014/15) in La Liga.

#1 Highest appearances in the Champions League

His favourite competition, Ronaldo is often called 'Mr. Champions League' for his imperious exploits in Europe's premier club tournament over the years, breaking records after records in it.

He's the all-time highest scorer, has finished as the top-scorer on most occasions, has made the most assists, has scored the most free-kicks, has scored the most goals in the finals, and so on.

This season, he could reach another important milestone - with just eight more appearances, Ronaldo (170) can beat his former teammate Iker Casillas (177) for most matches played in Champions League history.
