Top 5 players who could leave the Premier League

Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
The best striker in the world

While the Premier League might be considered as the most popular in the world, it is perhaps not the pinnacle for any player since Real Madrid or Barcelona are not in the league. This might sound harsh, but the truth is always like the homoeopathic medicine that your grandma wanted to shove down your throat.

With the football season in Europe coming to a close, the transfer window is set to open in a few months’ time. This year, there is the World Cup, which means that the clubs would want to finish deals before the World Cup ends because otherwise, the price of the targeted players could increase after a good tournament.

The Premier League has been a hunting ground for the top two of La Liga and it won’t be any different this season as both Real Madrid and Barcelona are consistently being linked to some of its finest talents.

And here are 5 players who could leave Premier League in the summer…

#5 Eden Hazard

Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Wasting his talent at Chelsea?

The first of the usual suspects is Eden Hazard. With Chelsea’s Champions League hopes almost fading to nihil after their loss to Tottenham, there is all the reason in the world for Hazard to change clubs. There is a general consensus among fans that Hazard’s career has stagnated at Chelsea and he needs to move to a bigger club to become a better player.

Enter Real Madrid.

The Blancos have been repeatedly linked with the player due to him having all the technical brilliance to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. One could argue that the Belgian might not have the scoring sense of the Portuguese, at Real Madrid, however, that could change.

Regardless of that, there is every chance in the world for the former Lille star, who has scored 15 goals and has made 6 assists in 33 starts, could move clubs in the summer with Real Madrid’s name lurking around him.

#4 Thibaut Courtois'

Chelsea v Crystal Palace - Premier League
Madrid are apparently targeting him

Another player that could leave the Premier League for La Liga is Thibaut Courtois. The former Atletico Madrid revealed a few days ago that his heart lies in Madrid since his wife and kids live there and since Real Madrid are a club whose name is always attached with the big Belgian in the rumour section, there is a chance that he could leave.

Like Hazard, it feels as though Courtois could play for a bigger club and become a bigger name in the world of football. So far this season, he has kept 13 clean sheets in 29 games and is easily one of the best shot-stoppers in the game as he averages 1.92 saves before conceding a goal.

With Keylor Navas’ place in danger due to his erratic nature, Madrid are actively seeking a goalkeeper if reports are to be believed—and they might very well acquire Courtois to solve their problems.

#3 Mohamed Salah

Crystal Palace v Liverpool - Premier League
Leading the Golden Boot race

There was a report from earlier which revealed that Mohamed Salah wants to leave Liverpool and Barcelona are one of the clubs interested in him. It is worth noting that the report came from Diario Gol, who are as trustworthy as a cat being asked to guard milk, and perhaps should be taken with a bucket of salt.

However, one cannot really rule out the Egyptian from leaving the Premier League. All of best Liverpool players in the past have gone to Barcelona and in the case of Mo Salah, it could be no different—except for the fact that he could go to Real Madrid instead of the Catalans.

With Gareth Bale’s continuous decline and Karim Benzema’s fear of scoring goals, it would be foolish of the club to rely on a 33-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo to continue his scoring brilliance even next year. This is where, Salah, who is leading the Premier League Golden Boot race with 29 goals from 31 league games, could help the Galacticos.

In this regard, there is another player that could help Madrid and his name is…

#2 Harry Kane

Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
The tremendous talent

Who else but Harry? For almost the entire season, the Tottenham man has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. The striker is definitely the best English player in the world and could go down as one of its greatest ever strikers.

For Real Madrid, he would be the perfect forward to complement the Portuguese goal-machine. Kane has everything that one could ask from a striker. The delicate first touch, the sweet one-touch passes that ooze nectar, the flight of a bird and the finishing ability of a Christopher Nolan’s movie endings… he has it all.

Since Real Madrid have an urgent need for a striker that can score and since the Galacticos have been vehemently linked with the forward, one could expect them going all-guns-blazing for the man that has scored 35 goals from 40 games in all competition this season.

#1 David De Gea

Manchester United v Swansea City - Premier League
The best goalkeeper in the world

And finally, the man who was stopped from joining Madrid by a fax machine. David De Gea is always a summer away from joining Real Madrid. Always. And now, with Keylor Navas’ consistency always coming under scrutiny, Madrid are likely to sign another keeper.

The Manchester United goalkeeper is perhaps the best player in his position and will require a mammoth offer from Madrid to get him off United’s hands. The fact that he makes 4.24 saves before conceding a goal shows how influential he has been for the Red Devils.

With 16 clean sheets from 31 games, he has been the most consistent player for the Old Trafford outfit this decade. His trophy count, however, doesn’t suit the type of talent that he is.

He is yet to win a Champions League and with City’s domination in the Premier League with a relatively young team, he might have to consider moving in order to fulfil some aspirations that he might have as a player.
