Tottenham Hotspur were dealt with a huge blow when their talisman Harry Kane suffered an untimely injury in their 1-0 loss to Manchester United. They later confirmed that the 2018 World Cup golden boot winner will be out until March.

Harry Kane is going to miss close to 10 key matches for the Lily Whites and his absence was greatly felt when Spurs were knocked out by Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

Kane injury leaves Tottenham with only two fit strikers - Son Heung-min and Fernando Llorente. The former has returned after South Korea were shockingly eliminated in the quarter-finals of AFC Asia Cup by Qatar.

In Kane and Son's absence, Fernando Llorente spurred his golden opportunity to impress Mauricio Pochettino as he netted an own goal against Fulham and failed to make an impact on the game.

Son Heung-min is available for selection, but he is a little fatigued after his involvement in the Asia Cup. This calls for the last minute rush for Tottenham Hotspur to sign a striker who could offer proper back-up to the South Korean as they wait for Harry Kane to recover from his lengthy layoff.

Here is a look at five strikers that Spurs could sign as a cover-up for their injured striker.

#5 Cenk Tosun

Millwall v Everton - FA Cup Fourth Round
Millwall v Everton - FA Cup Fourth Round

Tosun has found game time hard to come by at Everton since he joined the Merseyside club in 2018 from Besiktas. After struggling to adapt to the English Premier League, the Turkish International finally looked settled as he has managed to score seven goals in 30 appearances for the Toffees.

His Champions League experience at Besiktas could prove to be vital for Spurs who are up against high-flying Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

Despite netting only two Premier League goals for Everton this season, the Turkish striker could be a decent addition to Spurs squad and could score more goals to his game with plenty of creative players at Tottenham.

Pricing him away from Everton could prove to be difficult as the Toffees have already rejected a loan approach from Crystal Palace for the striker but it is a gamble worth taking for Spurs who are in dire need for a new striker.

#4 Ciro Immobile

SSC Napoli v SS Lazio - Serie A
SSC Napoli v SS Lazio - Serie A

The Italian has found his goal-scoring mojo at Lazio after unsuccessful spells in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and Spain with Sevilla. He was signed by Borussia Dortmund in 2014 to fill in the big boots that were left by Robert Lewandowski who joined their arch-rivals Bayern Munich.

The Juventus youth graduate failed to replicate the form of his predecessor at Dortmund after which loan moves away from the German side to Sevilla and former club Torino followed before sealing a permanent move to Lazio in 2016.

Immobile has found the back of the net 11 times in 20 appearances for Lazio this season and could be a great option for Tottenham. The two-time Capocannoniere winner could add more than just goals to Spurs play as his ability to drift out wide and exploit spaces could create chances for his team-mates to score goals.

#3 Iago Aspas

Real Sociedad v RC Celta de Vigo - La Liga
Real Sociedad v RC Celta de Vigo - La Liga

Iago Aspas is a familiar name to English Premier League fans as he had an unsuccessful spell with league leaders Liverpool in 2013-14 where he failed to score in 14 League appearances for the Reds.

The Spanish striker has resurrected his career at his former club, Celta de Vigo. His goal-scoring exploits last season earned him a place in the Spain 2018 World Cup squad. Aspas has developed into one of the finest strikers in the Spanish top flight with his consistency and goal-scoring instincts.

His 10 goals in 17 La Liga matches clearly show how Aspas has developed into a deadly striker since rejoining his boyhood club. Aspas' Premier League experience during his short stint at Liverpool could help him settle at Tottenham.

The only problem would be convincing the Spaniard to part ways with his current club.

#2 Christian Stuani

Girona FC v Deportivo Alaves - La Liga

The Uruguay striker has been in sensational form since joining Sporting Girona from the English side Middlesbrough in 2017 as he has notched an impressive 33 goals in 50 appearances for the Catalan club.

The 32-year-old striker is getting better with age like wine as he has found the back of the net 12 times in 17 appearances and is behind only Leo Messi and his compatriot Luis Suarez who have scored 18 goals and 15 goals respectively.

His goal scoring exploits this season is not a fluke but a sign of maturity and his great understanding of the game as he scored 21 goals last season. Stuani is enjoying a great form and it could be a perfect time for Spurs to sign the Uruguayan striker who had a quiet spell in English football with Middlesbrough.

#1 Duvan Zapata

Frosinone Calcio v Atalanta BC - Serie A
Frosinone Calcio v Atalanta BC - Serie A

The Colombian striker is in good form as he has scored 14 goals in eight matches, a goal-scoring streak that has made him a contender for Serie A top scorer as he is only behind Fabio Quagliarrela who has 16 goals this campaign.

The on-loan Napoli striker is inspiring an exciting Atalanta side which has scored more goals this season than run-away leaders Juventus.

Zapata is peaking at the right time of his career and his recent form has alerted many top European sides of his goalscoring qualities. He could be more than just a back-up to the injured Harry Kane for Tottenham but could form a formidable strike partnership with the English striker when he returns from injury.

It could be hard for Spurs to prise him away from Napoli but a loan deal until the end of the season could be negotiated.
