Serie A side AC Milan have emerged as suitors for the signature of Romelu Lukaku, as Chelsea are no longer interested in keeping the forward on their books past the termination of his loan spell with Everton.

The 20-year-old is the Premier League’s top scorer in terms of players below the age of 22, yet Jose Mourinho, who wants Atletico’s Diego Costa to sign for Chelsea, reportedly does not foresee the striker playing a role in his vision of Chelsea’s future.

Lukaku was purchased for a fee of around £10m, which could rise to as much as £17m, from Anderlecht during Andre Villas-Boas time at the helm and is now valued by the London outfit at £20m.

According to the Standard, Milan have now joined the queue of clubs hopeful of pouncing on the Blues willingness to sell. The Italian giants have endured a turbulent season, one that has seen Milan boss of just under five years Massimiliano Allegri depart and the side slip to eighth in the league.

Lukaku, who recently discussed his PFA young player award snub, has found goal 14 times for Everton this season, for whom he may well play his final game this Sunday against Hull, which is as many as Mario Balotelli, the San Siro side’s current top goalscorer.
