Alexis Sanchez will certainly add depth and quality to the Manchester United attack

What's the story?

After days of speculation, Alexis Sanchez has finally signed for Manchester United. While the signing undoubtedly makes the Red Devils a much more potent attacking threat, there has been some doubt as to where the Chilean superstar will play for the Premier League giants.

However, if it was left to Sanchez, he would prefer playing on the left or through the middle. Speaking in an interview to MUTV (via ManchesterEveningNews), Sanchez said:

"I'm a player who likes to win everything. I'm very professional in everything I do, I live for football. I love football. It's what I'm passionate about. I train hard every day and after a game I try to look at what went well and where I can improve.

"I really like to play down the left, through the middle, but to tell you the truth, as long as I'm playing football, I'll fit in anywhere!"

In case you didn't know...

While Sanchez has mostly played on the left and middle for Arsenal, he initially made a name for himself playing on the right for Serie A side Udinese. He also played on the right for Barcelona before making his move to the Premier League.

With Martial or Rashford playing on the left for United currently and Mata playing on the right, it will be interesting to see where Mourinho decides to use Sanchez in the coming weeks.

The heart of the matter

The signing of Alexis Sanchez provides plenty of attacking options to Jose Mourinho. Capable of playing anywhere across the attacking line, the Chilean will certainly add something extra to the already threatening attack of the Red Devils.

Although Sanchez prefers playing on the left/middle, there is no doubt that he is extremely adept on the right wing as well and Jose Mourinho would definitely have a specific plan for the Chilean superstar.

Author's take

Although Sanchez has played the majority of his Premier League career on the left/middle, I think that the Chilean will most likely replace Mata in the starting line-up and play on the right for Manchester United.
