All the stats from Jack Wilshere’s stunning performance vs Norwich

Jack Wilshere

Putting his recent shenanigans behind him, Jack Wilshere delivered a fine performance in Arsenal’s 4-1 victory against Norwich City and capped it off with an utterly magnificent goal.

A neat few exchanges on the edge of the box was followed by a delightful flick into Giroud, the Frenchman returning it with one of his own before Wilshere simply sidefooted it past a dumbstruck John Ruddy in goal.

It was a goal that reminded football fans worldwide that when Arsenal turn on the style, they are a match for any team with their own brand of pass and move.

But ignoring the headlines, what was noticeable was that the performance arrived just as Wilshere found some form at last, combining with Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey to great effect.

Wilshere has been off-form for sometime, failing to record a Squawka Performance Score higher than 20 since the opening day defeat to Aston Villa.

But the Englishman arrived with a vengeance, achieving a score of 46 against Norwich City and creating three chances for his team-mates, getting an assist as well as scoring *that* goal.

In addition, he completed 70% of his passes throughout the game. The statistic sounds rather low but a cursory glance at his passing maps shows you that the vast majority of the passes were made in the Norwich half, therefore there was more of a risk attached to each pass.

A fine all-round performance from the 21-year-old as he looks to put the controversies behind him and focus his football. This can only be a good thing for Arsenal fans, as while he may not have a future as a diplomat, he certainly has one as a footballer.
