'Alu'n'faya' (Aadilhussain Kasia and Fayaz Kasia) -Tale of two football brothers

Silverware!

Aadilhussain Kasia and Fayaz Kasia. I am sure you might not have heard these names. Well even I had not until I saw their facebook page. The first impression that I got from these 18 and 15 year old boys was that they were street football players, flaunting their football skills. But, when I talked to them, I found out that they were one of the upcoming football players of Indio-British origin.

The brothers play for club called Mount Pleasant F.C which is run and managed by FA’s ambassador for Asian community Mr. Yunus Lunat. Known as ‘Alu’ and ‘Faya’, they started their football career at the age of 9 (Aadilhussain) and 7 (Fayaz). The main reason for starting football was to keep them off the streets.

Aadilhussain whose versality would leave every team wanting more, admits that his preferred position is midfield although he can also be a very efficient central defender. He was first spotted by Yunus Lunat – while playing a local tournament with a group of his friends – who then asked him to play for his club Mount Pleasant F.C. A strict disciplinarian, Yunus Lunat helped Aadilhussain to grow into a good leader and footballer. He was adjudged best football player in school at the age of 11, with Mount Pleasant he was the runner up in the Huddersfield Football League. He also captained the side for a certain period during the 2009-10 season. His hard work has helped the club to promotion in the four successive seasons. Aadilhussain is also very good academically and has accepted an offer to study “Dentistry” at the “University of Sheffield” in September 2011.

Not to be outshone by his elder brother Fayaz Kasia has shined even more brightly. Introduced to football by his brother at the age of 7, he has achieved many things in his short time with club football. The place where they live has started to run out of superlatives regarding Fayaz’s footballing ability. Fayaz was recommended by plenty of his friends who were in awe of his footballing quality. Chants of “sign him up, sign him up!” during football tournaments enhanced his reputation and gave him to the encouragement to delve into the world of club football. He has won various accolades like Most Improved Player (Mount Pleasant), Sportsman of the year trophy (Mount Pleasant and a Talent competition), Promoted to Division 3 (Mount Pleasant) and was the Vice Captain of Mount Pleasant FC. In his first season he scored 24 goals and over 20 assists as a central midfielder.

They both aspire to become professionals one day and they have also had trials with various academies for a chance to play professional football. Aadilhussain has attended trials with Leeds United Football Club, Wayne Rooney StreetStriker – CokeZero, Inter Milan – Footballs Next Star, David Beckham Soccer Academy and Pepsi Football while his brother Fayaz has had trials with Wayne Rooney StreetStriker – CokeZero and Bradford City Football Club.

They also dream of representing India one day and help Indian football. One source of motivation has been their father, who despite being busy has accompanied them to their games and cheered his sons on.

Aadilhussain and Fayaz (otherwise known as aluNfaya) are currently participating in program run by Nike called ‘Chance’. This competition provides an amazing opportunity to be selected into the ‘Nike Academy’. Once selected, the academy then showcases talent to professional football clubs to help talented footballers gain contracts with these professional football teams.
