Rumour: Alvaro Morata to reject Arsenal and Manchester United in favour of Juventus move

Arsenal target and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is set to turn down the Gunners, Tottenham and Manchester United in favour of joining Italian champions Juventus, according to the Daily Star.

Morata, 21, has struggled to cement a place in Real Madrid’s starting line-up with Karim Benzema and Jese Rodriguez ahead of him in the pecking order and has been linked with a move away from the club for a number of months.

It was thought that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would make a move to try and sign him in the January transfer market. However, no move was made and rumours suggested that Wenger would actually attempt to sign the young Spaniard in the summer window but it seems that his mind is already made up.

Arsenal’s rivals, Tottenham and Man United, were thought to hold an interest in the striker as they seek to challenge for Champions League football next season but it is understood that he has decided to move to Italy where Juventus await his signature.

Juventus won Serie A again last season and did it in some style, winning all of their 19 home games and losing just two games away from home.

Should the rumours be true, and Morata does move to Juventus, he’ll have Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez as competition.

Morata converted 22.9% of his shots in La Liga last season, scoring eight times.
