Villarreal Player Ratings against Arsenal:

Geronimo Rulli - 8/10

Like his Arsenal counterpart, Rulli made a few goods saves to deny the Gunners. However, Villarreal were lucky not to concede, as Rulli made a few mistakes in the game's opening exchanges.

Mario Gaspar - 7/10

The absence of Juan Foyth was a blessing in disguise for Nicolas Pepe. But Mario Gaspar proved himself to be just as strong defensively, and Pepe had to shift to the right wing to make things happen.

Raul Albiol - 8/10

The former Watford man has rejuvenated his career under Unai Emery, as Albiol has become one of the best defenders in the league, which was evident against Arsenal on the night.

Pau Torres - 8/10

Another defender who did not put a foot wrong, Pau Torres enjoyed a comfortable outing against Arsenal and looked untroubled all game.

Alfonso Pedraza - 8/10

From keeping Saka and Pepe at bay to constantly overlapping down the flank, the 25-year-old produced a complete performance.

Samuel Chukweze - 6/10

Chukweze was stretchered off before the half-hour mark as he could not impact the game significantly.

Dani Parejo - 8/10

Parejo has been the signing of the season for Unai Emery. Villarreal have taken advantage of the troubles at Valencia and swooped Parejo on a free transfer. The Spaniard was once again dominant in midfield while playing passes over Arsenal's defensive line with ease.

Francis Coquelin - 7/10

With Etienne Capou missing the second leg due to suspension, it was Coquelin's opportunity to provide cover to his team and haunt his former club Arsenal. It would be safe to say Coquelin did both.

Manu Trigueros - 7/10

Manu Trigueros underwhelmed in the final third, but his defensive work rate was nothing short of incredible. The 28-year-old was key to Arsenal not being able to pose much threat from the right wing.

Paco Alcacer - 6/10

Alcacer did his job of troubling Rob Holding, as the former Dortmund man was a constant nuisance for the Arsenal defender. Alcacer was a Villareal player who was very well drilled defensively and offensively on the night.

Gerard Moreno - 7/10

In the second half, the 29-year-old had a golden opportunity to finish the tie on the counter, but Moreno hit it straight at the Arsenal goalkeeper.

Ratings of Villareal substitutes against Arsenal

Jeremy Pino - 6/10

The 18-year-old replaced Chukweze at right wing after 30 minutes. Jeremy Pino did enough to trouble Tierney and Mari and provide cover to Gaspar.

Carlos Bacca, Moi Gome and Alberto Moreno - N/A

The trio did not play enough minutes to warrant a rating.
