Arsenal 0-3 Manchester City: Player Ratings

Manchester City v Arsenal - Premier League
Guardiola once again got the better off Wenger

Arsenal 0-3 Manchester City (Bernardo Silva 15', David Silva 28', Leroy Sane 33')

The conditions and the weather was horrid as Arsenal hosted Manchester City at the Emirates days after clashing off in the Carabao Cup final. Pep Guardiola's started on the front foot and took the lead just 15 minutes into the game through a sublime left-footed curler from Bernardo Silva.

Things got worse for Arsenal when City didn't take long to strike again this time through David Silva. Five minutes later Leroy Sane scored the third ensuring that this was the first time the Gunners conceded three goals in the first half in the Premier League at home.

Wenger's side started the second half better when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by Nicolas Otamendi on Henrikh Mkhitaryan. But, Aubameyang messed up his spot kick as Ederson guessed the right way keeping the home team goalless.

The rest of the second half went by with Arsenal not getting enough passes in the final half of the pitch. City did not drop off entirely and kept going forward looking to score more. However, City could not score anymore but the win ensured they moved back 16 points ahead in the table and as per Arsenal, it was a night to forget.

Here are the player ratings:

Arsenal

Arsenal v Manchester City - Premier League
Ozil failed to create many chances for his teammates

Petr Cech - 5/10

It was another Premier League game where Cech has failed to keep a clean sheet. He was busy in goal, especially in the first half when City were on a rampage and could not prevent any of the three goals from finding the net.

Hector Bellerin - 5.5/10

The fullback did not possess much threat going forward. He was able to make only 1 key pass and could not find any real crosses to Aubameyang in the box.

Shkodran Mustafi - 5/10

Mustafi was once again not up to the mark in a big game. Just like his mistake on Sunday, he was seen committing similar errors and couldn't keep the City attack shut, having zero block shots.

Laurent Koscielny - 6/10

Unlike his partner, the Frenchman was better in defence getting a total of five tackles and two block shots

Saed Kolasinac - 5.5/10

Similar to Bellerin, the Bosnian did not have any impact offensively. Defensively he was better makinga a total of 3 clearances.

Granit Xhaka - 5/10

Xhaka had a shot on target from outside the box which went straight into Ederson's hands. He was a let down defensively as he could not stop the City midfielders going further up the pitch.

Aaron Ramsey - 6/10

Ramsey had 2 shots in the game and was also dispossessed twice. He committed three fouls and his contribution on the defensive end was literally zero.

Mesut Ozil - 5.5/10

Another big game where Ozil has failed to deliver against a top-six Premier League opposition. He had only shot on target and failed to create any chances for his teammates.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 6/10

Just like Ozil, the Armenian was another let down among many in the Arsenal squad. His bad touches led to his team losing possession of the ball on two separate occasions. He registered only one key pass and completed only one dribble throughout the game.

Danny Welbeck - 5.5/10

Welbeck had very little involvement in the game. He had zero shots on goal and his bad control on the ball meant that Arsenal lost possession on more than a couple of different occasions.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang - 4.5/10

Just like his previous two matches, it was another let down of a performance from the Gabon international. Failed to convert the penalty early in the second half which would have given Arsenal a glimmer of a chance of making a comeback in the game

The City captain once again proved his mettle and significance to his manager. His partnership with Otamendi ensured that they closed down Aubameyang and won 2 aerial duels in the game.

De Bruyne may not have gotten his name on the sheet for goals or assists but as usual had an influential game. He had only one shot on target but had two key passes in the game.

David Silva - 8/10

The Spaniard once again thrived in his role. He finished off the second goal for Man City following a quick build-up by his teammates.
