Arsene Wenger: Staying put at the Emirates

Arsene Wenger has brushed off any rumours linking the Arsenal boss with a return to Monaco next season, saying that although he is fond of the club, he has no interest in becoming their manager.

The current man in charge of Monaco – Claudio Ranieri – has had to deal with speculation about his future for months now and with the season now over, it looks like the rumours could continue to intensify.

Wenger, however, has dismissed the chance of him returning to the Stade Louis II as he commits to Arsenal for yet another season: “Yes. I wish Monaco well, but there is no interest there.”

Speaking to the BBC, the veteran boss went on to talk about the club’s summer transfer plan, suggesting that it’s unlikely the club will sign anyone until the World Cup is over.

“If you look at our overall season I think we need to focus first of all on keeping everyone together. It is very early, World Cup transfer markets start after the World Cup usually.” concluded Wenger.
