What’s the story?

Arsenal are in the transfer market to sign a defender and have made a list of players they can make a move for. Arsenal Wenger wants to sign someone who has Premier League experience and is willing to pay anything to sign some who can get Arsenal back into the Top 4.

According to reports in Metro, the Gunners are plotting a shock move for David Luiz. The Brazilian defender is not a part of Antonio Conte's plans at Chelsea and is free to leave the club in January.

In case you didn’t know…

David Luiz and Antonio Conte had a fall out at the start of November. The Brazilian disagreed with the manager's tactical decision and has been punished.

He has made just one start for the club ever since and has not been in the matchday squad for a long time. He is reportedly nursing a knee injury and will be back in training only next month.

The heart of the matter

Reports in telegraph suggested that David Luiz was keen on leaving Stamford Bridge in January to make sure that he is on the flight to Russia in the summer with the Brazilian national team.

Real Madrid were said to be the ones leading the race to sign David Luiz as they have a defensive crisis right now. Zidane wants to add an experienced centre back to the squad to add pressure on Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos.

Arsene Wenger wants to do the same at the Emirates and wants Mustafi and Koscienly to improve their game. Adding to that, Per Mertesacker is set to retire at the end of the season.

Author’s Take

There is no way David Luiz is moving to Arsenal. The Brazilian has better offers but is willing to fight for his place at Chelsea as well.
