Arsenal draw Napoli 2-2 in the Emirates Cup

Gonzalo Higuain was introduced in the second half of the game

Late goals helped Arsenal draw their Emirates Cup match against Napoli as the game ended 2-2 with both the sides sharing the spoils.

Lorenzo Insigne put Napoli front very early into the match by capitalising on Gokhan Inler’s long ball into the box as he went on to beat the Arsenal full back Carl Jenkinson one on one to put the ball past Lukas Fabianski.

Soon after Pepe Reina saved Lukas Podolski’s penalty kick, Goran Pandev, assisted by Marek Hamsik, scored Napoli’s second goal of the match in the 28 minute to leave the Gunners reeling behind. Arsenal’s attacking play though was too narrow to trouble Napoli as the first half came to an end.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez introduced Gonzalo Higuaín and Christian Maggio to the game in the second half. Olivier Giroud then pulled one back in the 71st minute and Laurent Koscielny put Arsenal on level in the 87th minute. Both the sides were unable to break the deadlock as the game ended in a draw.
