Arsenal's Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey ruled out for Manchester City clash

The injury crisis at the Emirates shows no signs of abating, with reports confirming that Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey are all ruled out of Arsenal’s game with Manchester City with few of the club’s raft of injured players likely to be returning any time soon.

Monreal is the closest to being fit out of the collection of players cluttering up the Arsenal physio’s office, but is still returning too late to face City. Fortunately for Arsenal, Monreal’s injury has not coincided with one of Kieran Gibbs’ stints on the sidelines, meaning that his absence is the least of the side’s worries.

Koscielny went off injured at half time in the 6-0 pummelling by Chelsea last weekend, and missed the midweek defeat to Swansea. Injury to the Frenchman means that club captain Thomas Vermaelen will keep his place in the side at centre back.

In midfield a host of players are missing, with Ramsey still not looking close to a return having suffered numerous setbacks in recent weeks. Under-fire manager Arsene Wenger is missing most of his first choice midfield, with Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Abou Diaby and Theo Walcott also missing.

However, Wenger must make do with what is left of his squad at the moment, and hang in in the race for fourth place, with return dates for his missing players not imminent.
