Arsenal News: Wilshere Tells Fabregas To Man Up And Stay With Gunners

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has challenged colleague Cesc Fabregas to ‘be a man’ and show his loyalty to Arsenal next season. Fabregas has been the subject of concentrated interest from boyhood club Barcelona for the past three summers now, and has openly expressed his desire to move to Spain in the past.

Wilshere wants Cesc stay

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season match with Malaysia XI, Wilshere said that loyalty was one of the most important attributes a footballer should possess, and hoped that Cesc and Nasri would show those qualities and stay on at Arsenal next season.

He said-

“If you are loyal, it means you are a real man,”

“We have got loyalty at Arsenal and players have shown that in the past. Cesc showed that last year and hopefully a few more players will show it this year.”

“Loyalty is a big part of football and it shows if you are a real man or not. There have been a few players who have shown Arsenal great loyalty and hopefully we will get a few more like that.”

Wilshere cited the example of Luka Modric when he talked about clubs needing to keep their star players, and confessed that Cesc had been a real role model to him and a brilliant player to play alongside. He also admitted that he was very frustrated with last season’s collapse and would do everything within his power to help the Gunners win a trophy next season.

He said-

“We need to keep our big players. If you look at Tottenham, they are fighting to keep [Luka] Modric. It’s the same for any team — you have to keep your best players. We have to keep ours if we want to win things.

“Robin [Van Persie] has said we would be devastated if we lose Cesc. It’s the same for me. He has been a role model for me and he is the player I want to aspire to.”

“I am happy at Arsenal at the minute. I have been here since I was nine. In those 10 years, I have been really happy. I have had a few problems in the past but Arsenal have always looked after me. We have spoken about it and they helped me get over it.

“I am still young. I like to enjoy my life but my life is at Arsenal. Football is my life. It would mean everything to win a trophy this season.”

It remains to be seen whether Fabregas stays on at Arsenal next season or becomes a pretend man in Wilshere’s eyes by making the switch to Spain. Stay tuned for more in this regard.
