Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey ruled out for a month with hamstring injury

Aaron Ramsey suffered a hamstring injury in season’s first game.

“When it rains, it pours” and if there’s one man for whom these words fit perfectly it's Arsene Wenger because a new name has been added to his list of injuries. According to reports from England, Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out of action for three weeks to a month due to a hamstring injury. The midfielder suffered the injury during Arsenal’s 3-4 loss against Liverpool at Emirates.

Ramsey started the game for the Gunners but had to be taken off at the hour mark due to the problem in his hamstring. If reports are to be believed then the Welshman is set to miss his side’s next two games against Leicester City and Watford and possibly Wales’ 2018 World Cup Qualifier against Moldova on 5th September.

The Gunners are having an injury crisis at the start of the season. Defenders Per Mertesacker and Gabriel suffered injuries during pre-season and both are long term absentees. Striker Danny Welbeck is also out for 9 months due to knee surgery.

A few eyebrows were raised when the midfielder was named in the starting lineup for the game against Liverpool. The Frenchman later admitted that he took a risk by playing Ramsey.

"I pushed Ramsey in and he got injured,” he said. “It’s a very difficult situation to sort out because the players come back late because of the Euros and, on top of that, you play them and they get injured.”

Arsene Wenger's men suffered a humiliating defeat in their first game of the season on Sunday as Theo Walcott missed a penalty in the first half but made amends by scoring a goal merely 90 seconds later. Liverpool equalized in dying minutes of the first half, courtesy of a superb free kick from Phillippe Coutinho.

The Reds then scored 3 times in just 25 minutes in the second half. Goals from Oxlade-Chamberlin and Calum Chambers were not enough for the gunners to come back into the game as Jurgen Klopp’s side emerged victorious.

Arsenal had already started the game without their stars Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil, and Olivier Giroud. The trio was given an extended rest following their Euro 2016 campaign in the summer.

Ramsey had a good summer in France as Wales progressed to the semifinals but were knocked out by Portugal who went on to win the title. The 25-year-old was even named in the Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament.
