Sven Bender has admitted that a move to the Premier League would appeal amid interest from Arsenal, but has insisted that he has yet to receive any contact from in regards to a summer transfer.
Arsenal are believed to be keen on Bender as they look for alternatives in the centre of midfield, with Mikel Arteta having endured a poor season that has left manager Arsene Wenger losing faith in him as the man to take the Gunners into a title challenge next season.
Sven’s brother Lars Bender of Leverkusen and Lyon’s Clement Grenier have also been linked with a move to the Emirates, but Sven Bender has emerged as the number one target despite Borussia Dortmund’s insistence that they will not sell any more of their star players after losing Robert Lewandowski to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.
The 25-year-old enforcer has claimed he is aware of the reports from England and while he has claimed the Premier League would be the only league he would quit Germany for, any talk of him leaving is just rumours for the time being.
Bender told reporters, “I know my skills and others are also aware of them.
“When I am fit I also want to play. Nobody has contacted me yet.
“What can I say about those rumours? What is being reported in England is just rumours.
“I really like English football. Outside of the Bundesliga, it would fit my style of play the best. Should I ever consider a move, the Premier League would be the only one that would come into my thinking.”
Sven Bender made 37 interceptions in his 19 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season and recorded a pass completion rate of 84%, a figure surpassed by no other player at the club .
