Velez Sarsfield star Ricky Alvarez has come out to claim to the media that he would like a move to the Premier League giants Arsenal. Since being linked with the North London club, a lot of new suitors have turned up for the starlet and reports coming from Italy say that the likes of Inter Milan are ready to battle it our for the South American starlet.

After a long saga which started off with what seemed like a 10 million euro bid for the highly rated attacking midfielder, is taking a much interesting shape with the likes of Inter Milan preparing to trump Arsenal in the bid to capture his signature. Gazzetta dello Sport says Velez are unhappy with the offer that Arsenal have tabled a for the Argentine, and are insisting on 15 million for their star man. Inter however are ready to pay a cool 12 million for the attacker, but even that does not match the club’s evaluation of the player.

Alvarez: Emirates bound?

A week ago, though, Palermo had pulled out on a bid to sign the player and strongly hinted that Arsenal were close to signing the Argentinian starlet when their president Maurizio Zamparini revealed during a Radio interview that they had tried to snap Alvarez up earlier, but had lost him to the London club. He said, “We did have a concrete bid for Alvarez and had him in our grasp back in January. Unfortunately, we didn’t complete the move in time, so we lost him to Arsenal.“. Velez have confirmed that it is becoming very hard for them to keep hold of their star man, with interest coming towards them from all over Europe.

Alvarez, however has made it clear that he wants to move to the Emirates and sign for Arsenal. He said, “I’d love to play for the Arsenal. It’s a dream for me. I wish to God it can be realised.“. The lanky Argentinian has a questionable strike-rate as a winger or support-striker, but his overall performances has seen clubs monitor him for quite a while now. He is tall, strong and pacy, but he is quite injury prone in recent times which can be a severe problem for the Gunners as injury woes have often derailed their title challenges in the near past.

As of now, though, he is still a Velez player. Argentina has not been a place where Arsenal have frequently picked up talent from, but if Ricky’s wish comes true we might see him in their colors very soon. The completion of this move, however will throw questions about the future of Samir Nasri at the Emirates, who is keen on a way out.
