The 30-year-old centre-back has been in fine form for the Premier League strugglers and according to reports in The Metro, Alan Pardew has resigned himself to losing out on his captain.

West Bromwich Albion v Chelsea - Premier League
Future Arsenal star?

Evans has been continually linked with an exit from West Brom, but the Midlands club managed to hold on to him in the summer window. However, with the Baggies struggling in the Premier League, Pardew has decided to sell Evans and invest the money in some attacking talent to solve their goalscoring woes.

The heart of the matter

Arsenal have already completed the signing of Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, but with Mertesacker retiring at the end of the season and Mustafi's future uncertain, the signing of Evans could be crucial for Wenger's team.

Experienced at playing in the Premier League and not afraid of getting physical, Evans has been in fine form and will definitely add some much-needed steel to the Arsenal team.
