For those of you out there who desperately want Wayne Rooney at Arsenal – it is looking doubtful he’ll make the switch. After Moyes’ recent statements of how United would be quite content with seeing out the 27-year-old’s contract and not play him as much if necessary, it seems as if Wayne is staying put for the time being.
As both Arsenal and Chelsea (primarily, Jose Mourinho) try to lure the Englishman away from Old Trafford, it would be silly to think that Manchester United would allow one of their best players in recent history to transfer to a direct domestic rival. And with Jose Mourinho chasing Rooney ever so closely, David Moyes continues to quell speculation with a resolute message to potential buyers that the 27-year-old is still, not for sale.
Any club is bigger than a player, and with regards to Rooney, it remains to be seen whether or not he understands that. Although he denies placing it, many United fans are upset with Rooney’s second transfer request since 2010 and bringing a ‘disruptive’ player to Arsenal may be the worst possible situation for Wenger and his men.
From a simple football perspective, the 27-year-old does bring plenty of attacking menace and killer instinct which is something the Gunners are desperately searching for.
What do you think – Should Arsenal break the bank for Rooney or Suarez or are you content with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott?
