The Madrid Derby
The Madrid Derby

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid has always been a contest between the stubborn defense of Atletico against the attacking mindset of Real. Atletico Madrid is considered to be one of the best defensive units and a hard nut to crack. On the contrary, Real Madrid has always lived with the reputation of an attacking unit and usually ends the season with the most number of goals in the league. The Madrid derby will take place on 9th February at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

After losing to Real Betis, Atletico Madrid have lost some crucial points and are six points behind league leaders Barcelona. After losing to Real Sociedad on 6th January, Real Madrid have come back strongly and won four league matches in a row.

There are only two points between the two teams and a win for Real will help them leapfrog Atletico to second place. On the other hand, a win for Atletico can take them closer to the title and a loss for Real be make a huge blow to their faltering league campaign.
