The Ballon d'Or results are out and as expected, Luka Modric has lifted the trophy ending the ten years of the Messi-Ronaldo duopoly. The Croatian had a fantastic year and is quite deserving of the trophy, collecting a total of 753 points.

On the second spot is Cristiano Ronaldo, who finished with 478 points, while Griezmann, with 414 points, finished third. However, the fact that Lionel Messi only finished fifth with 280 points and outside the top three for the first time in the last 10 years has surprised football fans all over the world.

The Ballon d'Or 30-man shortlist had a wide array of players from the top four leagues of Europe and the Premier League had 11 representatives of its own. Read on to find out the final rankings of the Premier League players in the 2018 Ballon d'Or.


#11 Hugo Lloris (France, Tottenham Hotspur)

The World Cup-winning captain of the France National Team has finished last among the shortlisted players, ending at 29th place, along with Real Madrid midfielder Isco. However, what comes as a surprise is that both of these players failed to collect a single point.

The Tottenham Hotspur's skipper has picked up 0 points, even after lifting the 2018 World Cup with France in the summer. Lloris finished with 15 clean sheets last season and has 4 clean sheets from 10 games so far in the Premier League this time.


#10 Alisson Becker (Brazil, Liverpool)

The Liverpool custodian has finished at the 25th place, alongside Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic and Atletico Madrid custodian Jan Oblak. Alisson ended last season with 17 clean sheets from 37 games in the Serie A with Roma, and his steady performance earned him a move to Liverpool in the Summer. In the Premier League this season, he has played 14 games and conceded just 5 goals, keeping 9 clean sheets.

The Brazilian earned 2 points at the end of the Ballon d'Or voting process.

Liverpool's fiery Senegalese finished at 22nd place alongside PSG forward Edinson Cavani and Real Madrid full-back Marcelo. He received 3 points in the voting process.

Mane finished last season with 20 goals from 44 games and this time, he has scored 7 goals from 18 games so far.

#8 Roberto Firmino (Brazil, Liverpool)

The Brazilian has Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos for company in his rankings. Firmino was a very essential part of the Liverpool team that reached the final of the Champions League last season, scoring 10 goals in 13 games in the tournament and 27 goals in 54 games in all competitions for Liverpool. The Brazilian is going through a slow start to the new season though, as he has scored just 5 times in 20 games so far.

Firmino received 4 points in the Ballon d'Or voting process and finished 19th.


#7 Sergio Aguero (Argentina, Manchester City)

Aguero has finished ahead of Real Madrid duo Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, who are both tied at 17th. The Argentinean ended last season with 30 goals from 39 games as Manchester City won the Premier League and the League Cup. This season, he has already scored 12 goals from 17 games so far. Aguero received 7 points and finished at 16th among the contenders.

#6 Paul Pogba (France, Manchester United)

Pogba won the World Cup with France this summer and was one of the most influential players for his country. He had a moderate season with Manchester United, where he finished second in the league. Interestingly, Pogba is the only Manchester United player in this year's Ballon d'Or shortlist. The Frenchman received 9 points and finished 15th.

The best defensive midfielder in the world had a fabulous season, winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup with his country and the FA Cup with Chelsea. This season, Kante has redefined himself under Sarri so far.

Kante is one of the two Chelsea players in this shortlist and narrowly misses out from the top ten spots. The Frenchman received 24 points and has to be content with the No. 11 spot.

Kane won the World Cup Golden Boot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, as he guided England to the fourth position in the tournament, scoring 6 goals in the process. In the league, he narrowly missed winning the Premier League Golden Boot, finishing with 30 goals from 37 games. This season, Kane has already scored 12 goals from 19 games in all competition.

The Englishman finished 10th, receiving 25 points from the voting process. Incidentally, he was the only Englishman among the shortlist this season.


#3 Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium, Manchester City)

The Belgian has been the best midfielder in the Premier League for quite some time now, but last season, De Bruyne was a league above the others. He was the heart of the City side that bulldozed their way to the Premier League trophy with a record 100 points, and also won the League Cup. In the summer, De Bruyne took Belgium to the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

This season though, injuries have restricted him to just 4 appearances in all competitions and he is also yet to score a goal so far.

In the Ballon d'Or 2018, De Bruyne finished with 29 points and is ranked 9th.

Eden Hazard was once expected to take over the mantle from Messi and Ronaldo when they moved on. While that has not happened, the Belgian is still one of the best players in the Premier League and on his day, has the abilities to be the best in the world.

Hazard scored 17 goals from 51 games for Chelsea last season, winning the FA Cup. He finished third in the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Belgium in the summer. This season, the Belgian has already scored 8 goals from 16 games.

He received 119 points in the voting process of the 2018 Ballon d'Or, the second most among all the players from the Premier League, but finished 8th in the overall rankings.


#1 Mohamed Salah (Egypt, Liverpool)

The Egyptian was the Best Player in the Premier League last season and is the highest ranked Premier League footballer among the Ballon d'Or rankings.

Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot last season, scoring 32 goals from 36 games in the league. He took Liverpool to the final of the Champions League, scoring 10 goals from 13 games in the tournament. He also finished third in the race to the 2018 FIFA's Best Men Footballer of the Year.

The Egyptian might be having a tough time this season, but he has still managed to score 9 goals from 20 games in all competitions. Salah received 188 points in the Ballon d'Or voting process and finished 6th.
