Bayern Munich Player Ratings

Barcelona v Bayern Munich - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final
Barcelona v Bayern Munich - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final

Manuel Neuer - 7/10

Neuer made a couple of massive saves when the score was 1-1, off Suarez and Messi. That kept Bayern in the game. From there on, the attacking players took over. In the battle between the contenders to be Germany's no.1, Neuer was the clear winner tonight.

Joshua Kimmich - 7/10

He was given the freedom of the whole right flank tonight, but Kimmich was excellent himself. The desire to get into advanced positions, the quality to make things happen from there, and great set-pieces, everything was on point. He even got himself a goal after sensational play from Davies.

Jerome Boateng - 6/10

Boateng did a steady job when he was called upon, but truth be told, he wasn't called upon too often. He did get turned by Suarez in the lead-up to Barcelona's second goal though.

David Alaba - 6/10

The own goal was a bit comical, as he didn't make correct contact to clear Alba's cross away. But apart from that, like Boateng, he too hardly had anything to do.

Alphonso Davies - 8/10

That run to completely suck the life out of Semedo and set up Kimmich was an outstanding display of what the Canadian is best at. His pace and enthusiasm on the flank was on full display, as Bayern turned on the style.

Thiago Alcantara - 8/10

Thiago completed every single pass eh attempted in the first half, and was very near perfection in the second as well. Playing deep in midfield, he controlled possession superbly, led the Bayern press well, and set up Bayern's foothold in the game.

Leon Goretzka - 7/10

Goretzka's physicality and energy in midfield was a perfect foil for Thiago's technical excellence. He was the real trigger for the Bayern press, and the likes of Muller and Gnabry followed him up excellently.

Serge Gnabry - 7/10

The winger got himself another goal in this Champions League campaign, with a lovely finish off a Muller dink. His pace and running in behind caused Barcelona no end of problems.

Thomas Muller - 9/10

With two goals and an assist, Muller crowned another big night for Bayern with a stellar performance. He set the Bavarians on their way early in the game, with a lovely finish after a superb one-two with Lewandowski. The dink to assist Gnabry was also sheer genius.

Ivan Perisic - 8/10

Keeping his place in the side ahead of Kingsley Coman, Perisic once again justified Hansi Flick's faith in him, with an energetic performance of the flank. He got slightly lucky with Lenglet's deflection for his goal, but he won't care.

Robert Lewandowski - 8/10

After a night where he was unselfish and played his teammates in throughout, he got himself his moment late in the game when a lovely Coutinho cross found him unmarked to head home from within the six yard box.

Substitutes

Kingsley Coman - 6/10

He nearly scored straight after coming, when he had an almost open net to shoot into, but Pique made a sensational block to deny him.

Niklas Sule - 6/10

He came on when Bayern were 5-2 up, and didn't really have too much to do in terms of defending.

Philippe Coutinho - 8/10

Playing against his parent club, Coutinho scored two and assisted one, as he was afforded so much time and space in the box, to do whatever he wanted to.

Corentin Tolisso - N/A

He was a late substitute for Goretzka, and just came on to close the game out and rest the starting midfielder for a bit.

Lucas Hernandez - N/A

Like Tolisso, Hernandez was brought on to give Davies a breather.
