Gomes is not much of a fan favorite at Barcelona

Barcelona is looking at a glorious 2018 in terms of silverware. The Catalans are aiming for a treble this season and are the favorites for wrapping the big prizes up.

However, the concern for the club at the moment is their over-reliance on Lionel Messi. The Argentine is in sensational form this season but has to do it all to ensure that his team sees a positive result.

Barca would be looking to fix the key areas in the creativity department so that Messi's work-load can be reduced substantially. Also, they need to bolster their squad strength which isn't impressive at the moment.

That said, here are the players they can target this summer.

#5 Max Meyer

The midfielder is expected to leave Germany this summer.

Max Meyer is yet another youngster in Bundesliga who could be leaving their clubs for an elite one. The 22-year-old has shown some quality playing for Schalke and caught the attention of many big clubs.

The German is a sublime holder and passer of the ball, his game reading and ball interceptions skills are commendable.

He would be a free agent this summer. He can be deployed in the regista role alongside Sergio Busquets where he can influence the game massively.

Valverde has used Ivan Rakitic in the same position but the Croatian does not have the legs to do all that running. He prefers to be in a more attacking role.

Barca would need to compete with a few Premier League clubs for the player's signature.

#4 Clement Lenglet

The Seville man is in fine form this season.

The French defender is one of the most promising young center-backs in Spain this season. His quality in Sevilla's defence has been a key to his team's performances.

The 22-year-old is a brilliant tackler and his positioning is better than most experienced defenders.

The player could provide the depth in Valverde's defence and give him an option to rest Pique more often.

The Catalan club has been linked with the player recently. He would be a great addition to Barca's defence.

#3 Hector Bellerin

The defender is a highly rated player in England.

Bellerin was understood to be a priority target for Barcelona before they landed Nelson Semedo last summer.

However, the Spanish side would be looking to pursue the Arsenal defender again this summer, given the recent vulnerabilities at the right-back position.

Sergio Roberto is not a specialist there and Nelson Semedo doesn't look assured enough till now. Therefore, the Spaniard would be a much-needed addition to the team's XI.

Manchester United and Juventus have also been reported to be interested in the player. It remains to be seen if Barca is willing to trust their options or recruit a specialist for the position.

#2 Marquinhos

The defender has impressed with PSG so far

The defender has constantly been linked with a move away from Parc Des Princes in the past few transfer windows.

The Brazilian has been in sensational form for the French side in the past couple of years and is arguably the best centre-back in France alongside Thiago Silva, his compatriot and teammate.

In 2017-18, the 23-year-old has made 33 appearances so far. His hold up on the ball and dribbling have improved massively. He would be an effective option to fill in for Samuel Umtiti at the club.

The Spanish super-giants however would have to battle Manchester United for the player's signature.

#1 Antoine Griezmann

The French forward could be on a move this summer.

Greizmann was on the cusp of joining Manchester United last summer, only to be denied by Atletico Madrid's transfer ban. The player decided to commit his future to the club and stay with them during their time of need and signed an extension.

However, his release clause is still at a low amount of close to £90 million. The forward has been in breath-taking form recently. He has bagged 24 goals and 13 assists so far this season, and is in no mood to stop.

He has long been linked to Barcelona this season. The Catalans have all the fire-power in their attack, therefore, his position in their team would remain questionable.

Nevertheless, the player would be a class addition to the Spanish giants' already star-studded squad.
