Playing for Barcelona is a dream for most footballers. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world and it's no surprise that so many jump on the chance to join them.

However, the dream turns into nightmares for several of them upon arrival. Their dreams are shattered as they are not able to play regularly and are unable to do anything about it!

Here are the 5 players who should not have joined Barcelona:

#5 Paco Alcacer

Paco Alcacer was one of the best young strikers in La Liga during his time at Valencia. The 24-year-old was scoring goals at will and was touted as the next big thing in Spain.

Barcelona swooped in and bought him 2 seasons ago. Since then, he has been a bit-part player for them and has never been able to show his talent.

He's been an understudy to Luis Suarez and is being played in cup competitions and when the Uruguayan striker needs a rest or is suspended.

#4 Dmytro Chygrynskiy

Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk - UEFA Super Cup
The performance that earned Chygrynskiy a move to Camp Nou

The central defender who turned to be a better player against Barcelona than for them. Pep Guardiola wanted some competition for Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique in the heart of his defence and signed Chygrynskiy from Shakhtar Donetsk to provide just that.

The Ukrainian star was signed up for €25 million after he impressed vs the Catalan side in the Champions League group stages. However, he did not turn into the world beater Pep thought he would be.

He was sold back to Shakhtar next summer for €15 million. His career was never the same again and he did not reach the heights he would have if he had remained at the Ukrainian club.

#3 Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is easily one of the deadliest strikers the world has seen in the last decade or two. The Swede was on top of his form at Inter Milan when Guardiola decided to take him to Camp Nou.

The move started off well and it was making Barcelona unstoppable. However, some 'inside politics' as per Zlatan made things go sour for him at the club.

Guardiola was benching him for every game and playing Messi as the false 9 and that made the record signing force his way out and move to AC Milan.

#2 Alex Song

Alex Song was in the form of his life at Arsenal when he decided to jump ship and join Barcelona. The midfielder was just reaching the peak of his career and the move to the Catalan side spoiled it all for him.

He was a benchwarmer and never got a chance to show his talent at Camp Nou. The former Arsenal man was unable to do anything significant for the managers to pick him in the starting XI and this broken his confidence.

He was loaned out to West Ham United and that did little to improve his confidence. He's now without a club after being released by Rubin Kazan.

#1 Alexander Hleb

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona - La Liga
His best position at Barcelona

Alexander Hleb is one of the most gifted footballers. He was not the kind of midfielder who'll get you goals but was deemed as one of the best playmakers none the less.

He was one of the best dribblers at his peak but that was something Messi was anyway doing at the club. They did not need the former Arsenal man to so it and so he was benched for most of the season.

He made loaned out to VfB Stuttgart the next season, then to Birmingham City and then to Wolfsburg before he was eventually sold to Russia side, Krylia Sovetov Samara. The trajectory of his career might have been way different had he stayed at Arsenal.
