Barcelona's claim about 'easiest remaining schedule' among La Liga title rivals backfires on Twitter

Twitter trolls Barcelona La Liga title race schedule
Barcelona’s lead at the top has been wiped out in recent weeks

Weeks ago, both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were resigned to the fact that Barcelona were walking away with the La Liga title thanks to a nine-point lead. But after Valencia’s 2-1 win over Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday night, only a point separates all three clubs with Barcelona and Atletico tied on 76 points and Real a point behind on 75.

Just about a week ago, Barcelona had tweeted an image with the remaining fixtures in La Liga for the top three sides. At that point, six games remained for all three sides and Barcelona felt they had the “easiest remaining schedule” among the top three.

While the article was pretty much straightforward with only a mention of how Barcelona lost a huge lead and how many home and away matches each team had, the tweet seemed cocky on the social media team’s part. Of course, it got the treatment it deserved after Valencia’s win – a team they were expected to beat after thrashing them 7-0 in the Copa del Rey.
