The Copa del Rey was supposed to ease the pain of the massive European disappointment the team faced earlier this month. The Catalan giants spectacularly gave away a three-goal lead in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final fixture against Liverpool with a 4-0 defeat at Anfield.

Valencia has now snatched the Blaugrana's only chance at some consolation this season, with goals from Kevin Gameiro and Rodrigo ensuring that the Spanish champions end their campaign with a single trophy.

While winning the league title would ordinarily be considered a success, Ernesto Valverde's failure to lead the club to European glory has put his future in question, with discontentment among fans brewing more than ever.

According to AS, Messi and senior players like Gerard Pique & Luis Suarez could not wait to discuss what went wrong, so they began an emergency meeting on the team bus.

The report claims that the discussion was so intense that the players continued to stay on the bus even after the coach arrived at the airport.

The rest of the travelling party reportedly had to wait for more than ten minutes before they were joined by the players on the shuttle bus.
