Barcelona prove again that they are the best

FC Barcelona v AC Milan - UEFA Champions League Round of 16

Barcelona players celebrate during their match against AC Milan in Champions League

Barcelona had lost the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 to AC Milan 2-0. After so many criticisms, so many jokes and so many trolls on Facebook, Barcelona proved why it is the best team in the world, outclassing the Italian giants 4-0 in what was one of their best matches in recent times.

Seriously, it reminded me of the fantastic Barcelona performances in the 2010-2011 UEFA Champions League campaign, which they won after thrashing Manchester United 3-1 in the final at Wembley. After such a long time, Barca has beaten a big club by such a massive goal difference. It seems the old days are coming back. The recent losses in the El Clasicos have surely made them strong and more alert against their rivals.

Another criticism was on Messi, who was declared “missing” by many of his haters in the recent games. The Argentine too proved that he hasn’t lost his spark by scoring two goals against Milan, and that too really superb ones. He has proven, at times, that in the crucial times, he’s always there for his club that gave him everything.

Barca’s other two maestros, Xavi and Iniesta were in an outstanding form too. There seemed to be no doubt about the result of the match. It is really delightful to watch all the world’s best in the same team, passing around the ball with their effective tiki-taka.

With this win, Barca have now a really tough task ahead, to qualify for the semis, as their rivals will be more dangerous, like Real Madrid, Juventus, Dortmund or Bayern Munich. It’s going to be a fantastic contest now.

With all due respect to the other clubs, I really believe that Barcelona can win the Champions League this time and will continue their dominance in La Liga too in the coming years. So far, no team can reach their level in terms of gameplay. The kind of skills that Messi-Xavi-Iniesta possess, are very rare and they form a once-in-a-generation partnership. Barca are lucky to have these players in their team, and also have the ability to scout players like them. Under the interim manager Jordi Roura, they are doing a fantastic job, and this may surely set up Jordi Roura’s career as Barcelona’s permanent manager someday.

It’s really wonderful to know that when many fans, including me, thought that Barca will have to do with the league title only this season, they gave us the hope again that they can be the Champions League winners too. It is the spirit of Barcelona that never lets its fans lose hope and makes us keep on fighting. It is the golden period of football, and of course, for Barcelona too.

As a Barcelona fan, I surely hope and pray for Barca’s success in the coming La Liga and Champions League fixtures.
