What is the story?

Spanish TV program Jugones has made a huge claim regarding top Barcelona target Antoine Griezmann. According to them, the Atléti star will say “yes” to the Barcelona offer.

In case you didn’t know….

Just like last summer, this time also Antoine Griezmann has been heavily linked to Barcelona for a possible move away from the Wanda Metropolitano.

Though the 28-year-old has recently expressed his grief about the constant rumours linking him to Barcelona, saying,

“I’m fed up, every year it’s the same thing.”

A few days later the Atletico President, Enrique Cerezo, confirmed that the striker is “1000 per cent staying”, but again the recent report contradicts those statements.

On the other hand, Barcelona has played down all the reports linking them to Griezmann. On Tuesday, the club’s director of institutional relations, Guillermo Amor said publicly that:

“We’ve been talking about Antoine Griezmann for two years. He was and still is an Atlético Madrid player. We respect other club’s players and are thinking about Barcelona.”

However, Griezmann is having a great season for Atlético Madrid. The French striker has already scored 19 times this season across all competition and also provided 9 assists to his teammates. He is also the fourth LaLiga player to reach double figures in both goals and assists, after Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Pablo Sarabia of Sevilla.

The heart of the matter…

According to Jugones, Griezmann’s camp have approached the Catalan giants for a possible move to the Camp Nou and will now accept an offer from Barcelona, unlike last season.

However, it will cost Barcelona around €120 million and some add-ons as agreed last summer during the negotiations.

What’s next?

It still remains to be seen whether Griezmann will make the move from Madrid to Catalunya, but he will be in the Catalan capital in the weekend to face Barcelona at the Camp Nou in a crucial LaLiga encounter.
