Club Atletico de Madrid v FC Barcelona - La Liga
Club Atletico de Madrid v FC Barcelona - La Liga

Fresh from their morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano last weekend, Barcelona would take on Mallorca in a matchday 15 fixture in La Liga.

The hosts have restored a semblance of consistency in recent weeks after starting the campaign disastrously and they would expect a straightforward win against a hapless Mallorca side who currently sit 16 places beneath them in 17th spot.

The visitors gained promotion back to La Liga after an aggregate victory over Deportivo La Coruna in the playoff fixture during the summer. But they have found life difficult since their return to the top-flight and have won just four of their 15 league games so far this season.

Barcelona v Mallorca Head-to-Head

Expectedly, Barcelona have the advantage when it comes to fixtures between the pair and the Catalan giants have won 22 and drawn five of the 34 games played with Mallorca to date, scoring 71 goals and conceding 30.

They have also won each of the last three fixtures against the Balearic Island by an aggregate scoreline of 11-2.

Barcelona v Mallorca Predicted XI

Barcelona Predicted XI: Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Junior Firpo, Clement Lenglet, Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto; Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Arthur; Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi

Barcelona v Mallorca Prediction

While their away form leaves a lot to be desired, Barcelona have been nothing short of emphatic at home in the league thus far.

The Catalans have currently played six La Liga matches at the Camp Nou and they have won all six, scoring a whopping 25 goals and conceding just seven and this goes in contrast with their away-day blues that has seen them lose three of their eight matches on the road.

In light of their imperious home form and difference in quality between the two teams, we could be set for another routine victory for the Blaugrana. They would, however, need to be wary of an upset, as Mallorca pulled off a shock 1-0 defeat of rivals Real Madrid earlier in the season.

Talisman and skipper Lionel Messi would likely present his record-breaking sixth Ballon d'Or to an adoring Camp Nou and he would lead the charge on the field, while strike partners Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann would be on hand to give him support.

Prediction: Barcelona 5-1 Mallorca
