Bayern Munich have warned their season ticket holders that their failure to turn up for matches will lead them to being banned from the ground.

The Bavarians, who are known for their fan friendly ticketing policy, have threatened to not renew season tickets of any holder, who fails to turn up for at-least 8 home games in a season.

‘Should the season ticket holder not be in the stadium for at least eight games in the current season, the club retains the right to cancel the ticket’ the communication reads.

The policy comes as a reaction to the many season ticket holders who choose not to turn up at the stadium for matches against lesser attractive opposition.

Often empty spaces are seen at the Allianz Arena due to the failure of the season ticket holders to turn up, even after the high demands for tickets to every Bayern home games, who are all sold weeks in advance. The friendly policy of Bayern towards fans, tagged along with low ticket prices and the connection that they have towards the fans has garnered them a lot of praise from all around the world.

Recently the club has subsidised the Champion League last-16 first leg tie at Arsenal‘s Emirates Stadium, which will be held on the 19th of February, while the cheapest season ticket costs only £115 (€140) at Bayern.

The fan friendly ticketing system’s major weakness has been exposed by the recent developments. If a fan fails to turn up at a home game due to some reason, he is unable to pass on the ticket to his family and friends due to the strictly personalised season tickets system.
